INSTRUCTIONS FOR LAUNDERING WOOL FILLED
COMFORTERS
QUILTS & PILLOWS |
|
Method
One for Comforters: |
|
Remove
the cover from the comforter. You will have to remove any ties and open one end
of the cover. This will allow you to slide the cover off the batting. The cover
can then be safely laundered according to the specifications of the material.
Put the batting into your washer using your regular detergent and allow the
washer to fill with warm water. DO NOT ALLOW THE WASHER TO AGITATE!!!!
Fill the washer until the batting is completely covered. You may push
the batting down to completely submerge it. Let the batting soak for
about 10 minutes and then spin out the water. Refill again using the
same temperature water for the rinse, soak, and then spin out. Your wool
batting does not need to be agitated to be cleaned. You are ready to dry
your batting. Lay the batting out flat, reshaping it as you spread it
out. |

Method
Three for Comforters and Quilts: |
|
This method can be used without removing the cover or with removal of
the comforter cover. Place the comforter/quilt/batting into the bathtub.
Fill the tub with warm water or with a temperature suitable for the
cover. Use your regular detergent and push the comforter/quilt/batting
under the water to complete submerge it. Allow it to soak for about
10-15 minutes. Drain the water out of the tub and prop up the
comforter/quilt/batt allowing it to drain. Let it drain for about ½ hour
, you may wish to push on it to squeeze more water out. Do not
wring it out as it will cause the batting to separate. Refill
the tub for the rinse using the same temperature water, drain, press
against tub until most of the water has been removed. Lay out flat to
dry - reshaping it as you lay it out. You may need to use a warm iron to
press the wrinkles from the cover. |
